Our Story: 2021-2025 Prevention Planning

The South Coast Prevention Team, Bass Coast Shire Council and South Gippsland Shire Council are working together to improve the health and wellbeing of our community. For the first time we are partnering to review the health data, listen to our community and establish shared priorities and actions. Our Story: Community Health and Wellbeing Profile provides the health and wellbeing data of our community and is the first step. Together with community feedback, it will be used to shape our combined priorities and actions.

We are also pleased to release Our Story a 5 minute animated video of the key health and wellbeing data.

South Coast Prevention Team

The South Coast Prevention Team is a result of a strong commitment by Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, South Gippsland Hospital and the South Coast Primary & Community Partnership to work collectively across the sub-region with pooled health promotion resources. This model provides clear policy direction and delivers better alignment of prevention work to the broader health agenda across the sub-region.

The Prevention Team work across the sub-region focus of the team is promoting health and preventing disease. We work with the whole community, including people who are healthy and well. Our place-based and collaborative approach allows us to partner with businesses, community groups, agencies, workplaces, sporting clubs and schools to deliver the best possible impacts for our community.

Our work is directed by The South Coast Integrated Prevention Plan 2017-2021.

Our priority health areas are;

  1. Preventing violence and injury
  2. Improving sexual and reproductive health
  3. Healthier eating and active living
